Well I am not sure how the rest of you feel, but this assignment was rough. I wanna say that with all the search tips and tools we've learn I feel a lot more comfortable researching. See yah class.

week 7
Wow,
Im sure I am not the anyone that had a fun time during this weeks annotated bibliography assignment.
Although I had to think out of the box on how to use some of the articles I found for this assignment I did find some interesting facts. There is some great medical uses for testosterone boosters besides body building. Some of the medical uses that test boosters have been used for are bronchitis, atrophy and immune deficiency problems. There is a lot of good use for testosterone boost users, the more I research the more it looks like it is like any other medical drug or substance, it can be great if used accordingly and not abused.
Cheers.

Week 6
Hello Class,
I don’t know about the rest of you guys but finding articles
in Open Access Journals was a lot easier than last week’s task. Alphastat is one
of the chemicals that are in many of the testosterone booster in the market.
Although through looking through the articles it sounds like it is not
completely legal, companies continue to use it because it gives consumers the
results that they are looking for. The higher the level of this supplement the
higher the bigger the results.
As for the academic integrity reading and quiz that we had
this week seemed like a review from the orientation presentation we had.
Although I did miss one of the practice questions were one of the characters
writes down the lyrics for a song. I didn’t realize that if I had a silly idea
of a song and wrote it down I could patent it and make it mine. I really should
just write down and patent every silly verse I think about, some of the lyrics
out there today are just ridiculous, mine can’t be that far from what on the
radio these days.

Week 5
Hello Everyone,
Well this weeks’ research task
proved to be a bit more challenging than the others. The article Nutritional
supplements: Prevalence of use and contamination with doping agents. Although
the article was not as helpful as the last few weeks I did gather a little bit
more information, the most important probably being that of illegal agents have
being found in nutritional supplements, that increase testosterone. Although I
did not read the whole article I definitely plan to learn what these illegal
agents are so I can look out for them. As for the research process, switching around
the words was the real key to find an article that I could use. Since I was
searching under Nursing & Allied Health Source a lot of my articles
involved the medical studies on rats, or women after menopause. Luckily after a
while fo switching words around I found my article.

Week 4
Hey everyone,
This week I had a fun time searching for peer reviewed journals that are related to my research question. Although it was not as easy as finding a book. Once I adjusted the year published limiter I as able to find an article in The New England Journal of Medicine, titled Mechanism of Action of Testosterone-Unraveling a Gordian Knot. This article really goes into detail on how testosterone work in the body and the effects that causes to other chemicals in our body. Most of the peer reviewed articles were medical reports which were hard to understand, but once I added the word "recreational" to the SmarText search I had success. If I understand what users of testosterone experience maybe I can understand why it has become so popular.

Week 3
After completing assignment one for this week I was able to locate an e-book through the Leatherby Library. The title of the book I selected was Testosterone Dreams by John M. Hoberman. This book is perfect for my research, it includes a lot of information from how testosterone use was introduced to medicine up to how the FDA is trying to control the use of it. One of the titles of the book, The Mainstreaming of Testosterone, is really close to the title of my research paper title. There was not many other books that were as relevant, but was really happy to have found this one. I will continue to use Leatherby Library to look for other sources but I hit the jack pot with this book.

Week 2
The first step I did in order to begin my research was to
use one of the resources that the processor suggested, I contacted the Chapman
Librarian for assistance. When you I got in touch with the librarian she was
extremely helpful and talked me through the whole process until I felt
comfortable with the library site. Since I am not trying to research the
chemical makeup of testosterone a lot of the articles that were peered reviewed
were not useful. Instead of looking for articles I decided to use news, and
magazines for searching.
After reading through some of the articles I have come to
realize that the question I am trying may be a little harder to answer than I
thought. Although there is tons of testosterone booster supplements in the
market. I have found it hard to find data on the amount of increase of purchase
of these supplements and who the consumers are. Scholar Google was very helpful
in locating magazine and news article on my subject and plan on using this search engine for most of my research. After this week I feel better about using the Chapman Library search engine and hope to get even better.

Welcome
Name’s
David, this is my fourth term at Brandman University, at the Irvine Campus. I
am working towards my BA in Business with an emphasis in Marketing. I hope that
this degree will help open doors to career where I get paid to travel all over
the world. I love traveling, meeting new people, learning from them. I have been
fortunate enough to visit a new country almost every year since 2008. I will be researching why testosterone boosters have become so popular.
To become a
better scholarly researcher and user of information I must first of all, like
anything else, practice. One of the points that the Information Literacy
Competency Standards reading really apply to me is the need to be able to incorporate
selected information into one’s knowledge base. In my finance class I had a
hard time relating to the material being studied and resulted in endless hours
of searching through many sites.
Determining the extent of information needed is another aspect that I
will have to work on. I have the tendency to not give enough information when I
know the material and give too much needles information when I don’t know the material
all that well. At the end the best way to improve is to do researches constantly
to get better at it.
